Grab
- A jar or bowl
- scrap paper
- pencils or crayons
- optional stickers
Do this
- Write six characters, six places, and six surprising objects on separate slips. Pictures work too.
- Fold the slips and mix them in the jar. Draw one character, one place, and one object.
- Take turns adding one sentence at a time. Keep going until everyone agrees the story has an ending.
- Give the story a title and draw its cover. Return the slips to the jar for another weekend.
Keep it easy
Let one person narrate while younger children supply sound effects or choose what happens next.
Take it further
Record the story on paper and staple the pages into a tiny family book.
